Suspect of threatening Douwe Bob stays stuck for ninety days longer

Douwe Bob

The man suspected of threatening Douwe Bob will remain in custody for another ninety days, the Central Netherlands District Court confirmed to NU.nl on Friday. Previously, the 38-year-old Amsterdammer’s pre-trial detention had already been extended by two weeks.

The suspect was arrested in early July on suspicion of threatening Douwe Bob. The Public Prosecution Service also suspects the man of drug possession.

According to the AD, it concerns Bob T., the leader of the Amsterdam Defence Force, a conservative graffiti group that claims to fight against the “sell-out” of Amsterdam culture.

Douwe Bob decided in late June not to perform at a Jewish football event after the organization, according to him, had not kept its promise to omit “religious or political statements.” There were allegedly “Zionist posters and pamphlets” present.

The 32-year-old singer was then threatened with death, after which he fled the Netherlands with his family for his safety. A week after the incident, he performed again at the Gelderpop festival.
