Sick Zverev runs during the job, Medvedev Bakt in the Sun

Alexander Zverev ran off the court mid-game at the grass tournament in Halle, Germany, on Friday. The German was feeling unwell. Although he didn’t feel completely fit, the German defeated Italian Flavio Cobolli.

Zverev caused a stir early in the match by suddenly leaving the court. He was gone for minutes. Afterwards, the crowd favorite indicated that he had stomach problems.

“Before the match, everything was fine. Then I suddenly felt unwell, after which I ran off the court and had to vomit. After fifteen minutes, I felt good again. I have never experienced anything like this. After that, I think I played a good match,” Zverev said afterwards.

The world number three was ready for a serve when the stomach problems flared up. He asked the umpire for permission to leave the court and then disappeared into the player tunnel. He was gone for minutes.

After the break, the 28-year-old Zverev lived up to his favorite role. He defeated Cobolli 6-4 and 7-6 (6). Zverev only managed to force a service break in the first game and did not concede a service game himself.

In the semi-finals, Zverev will face Russian Daniil Medvedev. The world number eleven earlier in the day defeated American Alex Michelsen. It was 6-4, 6-3.
