Iran asks Gulf States to insist on Arrangement with US and Israel

Iran wants a ceasefire with Israel and hopes the US can help with this. Tehran is trying to use the mediation of the Gulf States to convince President Donald Trump to use his influence and persuade Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a truce.

That’s what diplomatic sources reported to Reuters and The Wall Street Journal. Hoping to convince Trump, Iran is willing to negotiate with the US about its own nuclear program. Iran hopes that Trump will be able to convince Israel to agree to a ceasefire.

Trump has been looking for such negotiations for some time. The American president wants Iran to scale back its nuclear program. Iran is said to be close to developing a nuclear weapon, and Trump wants to prevent this.

Iran made this offer to the US through diplomats from the nearby Gulf States Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Diplomats from the different countries are said to have held intensive talks last weekend. The Gulf States also have a stake in this: they want to prevent the conflict between Israel and Iran from escalating further.

Meanwhile, the bombings between Iran and Israel continue. Israel has called on residents of a district in Tehran to leave. The Israeli army is said to want to carry out an attack there in the coming hours.

In the night from Sunday to Monday, Iran also carried out attacks on the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. At least three people are said to have died. Dozens of people were also injured. In Iran, eight people were killed in Israeli attacks.
