Luke Humphries has won the Premier League Darts for the first time in his career on Thursday. The Englishman defeated world champion and defending champion Luke Littler in a thrilling final: 11-8.
The thirty-year-old Humphries had a rough start in the O2 Arena in London. The 2024 world champion lost the first three legs, but then found an extra gear and came to 3-3. It became an exciting final, in which Humphries came out on top. He used his third match dart.
It was a high-quality match. Humphries recorded an average of 97.86 points per three darts. The eighteen-year-old Littler did even better with 100.29 points. Both hit about 30 percent of their finishes.
For Humphries, the victory over Littler will feel like revenge. Earlier this year, ‘Coolhand Luke’ had to surrender his world title to his talented namesake and compatriot. Last year, Littler defeated him in the final of the Premier League.
