Black Saturday starts early on European roads, highlight around 12.30 pm

Saturday morning is already busy with holidaymakers on European roads. It is expected to be a Black Saturday, on which many Dutch people will also be affected by traffic jams.

Traditionally, the residents of Paris massively leave the capital in the first weekend of August. This is already causing congestion on the A10 towards Bordeaux. Due to a car fire, there is a traffic jam with more than an hour’s delay there.

On the Route du Soleil towards the French southern coast, the waiting time between Lyon and Marseille is already more than an hour and a half, reports the ANWB.

In Switzerland, motorists have to wait an hour for the Gotthard Tunnel in a southerly direction. It is also busy in Austria, especially on the Fernpass in Tyrol. On the Tauernroute from Salzburg to Villach, delays are already increasing to two hours.

On the German A8 motorway, it is busy on Saturday due to holiday traffic between Munich and Salzburg. Traffic congestion is already high towards Slovenia.

The peak of Black Saturday is expected around 12:30 PM. There is congestion in both southern and northern directions, as many holidaymakers are also driving home on Saturday.
