Ajax announces long -awaited arrival Moro: 'Are you enjoying him a lot'

Ajax has finalized the long-awaited arrival of Raúl Moro on Tuesday. The Spanish winger is reportedly transferring from Real Valladolid for 9.5 million euros.

The transfer of the 22-year-old Moro had been in the works for some time, but the attacker first went to the European Championship with Jong Spain and then on vacation. Reportedly, the clubs had already agreed on the transfer fee. The amount could increase to 11 million euros through bonuses.

The transfer of Moro was always a long-term one for Ajax. The Spaniard was already well on his way to Ajax in January, but he broke his collarbone in what would be his last match for Real Valladolid.

A month later, Moro made his comeback, but by then the transfer market was already closed. Moreover, Ajax had acquired Oliver Edvardsen as an extra left winger. Moro has now signed for five years in Amsterdam.

“It is no secret that we have been charmed by this player for a longer period of time and that we have been in contact with him for a longer period of time. We are therefore very happy that we have now been able to officially welcome Raúl to Amsterdam,” says technical director Alex Kroes of Ajax.

Moro Second Reinforcement for Ajax

According to Kroes, Ajax had a lot of competition in the battle for the signature of Moro, who, as a youth player of FC Barcelona, once transferred to Lazio for 6 million euros. He played for Real Valladolid since the summer of 2023, with whom he was relegated from La Liga in May.

“But he believes in the sporting plan that we have drawn up,” says Kroes. “He is fast, technically skilled, deployable on both sides and able to pass his opponent both inside and out. I am convinced that we will enjoy him a lot.”

Left winger Moro should normally compete with talent Mika Godts and Edvardsen, who was acquired in the winter, in Amsterdam. On the right, he has competition from Bertrand Traoré and Steven Berghuis.

Moro is the second newcomer in the selection of Ajax. Trainer John Heitinga previously welcomed goalkeeper Vítezslav Jaros, with whom he already worked together at Liverpool. Ajax is mainly trying to sell some players in the coming months, including Sivert Mannsverk and Chuba Akpom.
