PSV rents goalkeeper Kovar from Bayer Leverkusen, Drommel on his way to exit

PSV has confirmed the arrival of Matej Kovar on Tuesday. The Czech goalkeeper arrives on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Goalkeeper Joël Drommel has left PSV’s training camp in Germany to complete a (loan) transfer.

“We are very happy with this transfer,” says director of football affairs Earnest Stewart on the PSV website about the arrival of Kovar. “With him, we welcome a two-footed and reliable goalkeeper who can also play football well.”

“Together with Nick Olij, he can now decide who will defend PSV’s goal. With them, we have what we believe are two top goalkeepers,” says Stewart, who will be saying goodbye to Drommel. The goalkeeper seems to be on his way to Sparta Rotterdam.

The 25-year-old Kovar immediately feels at home at PSV. “To begin with, I have received a fantastic welcome here,” says the thirteen-time international. “My girlfriend and all the other people who have traveled with me are only positive about what they are experiencing so far with the people within the club.”

“I was enthusiastic about it from minute one and I am convinced that this is the best environment to develop myself as a football player and as a person,” says Kovar, who will play with number 32 at the national champion. PSV has negotiated an option to buy.

Noa Lang and Johan Bakayoko are not present in the German Marienfeld with a view to a possible transfer. PSV’s training camp started on Monday and lasts six days. The club will play one friendly match behind closed doors in Germany.
