Wiebes trumps Kool in Sprint Slot stage Tour of Great Britain

Lorena Wiebes has won the final stage of the Tour of Great Britain on Sunday. She beat compatriot Charlotte Kool in the final sprint.

A flat stage to and from Glasgow was on the program. Wiebes was in a class of her own after 82.2 kilometers. Kool crossed the line a few meters behind her compatriot in second place.

It is Wiebes’ first stage victory in the four-day stage race. A third place in the opening stage was her best result until Sunday. The Team SD Worx-Protime rider crashed on Saturday, but was fit enough to start in the final stage.

The 26-year-old Wiebes won a total of six stages in participations in 2021, 2022 and 2024. The victory in the final stage is already her ninth victory of this year.

Ally Wollaston took the overall victory in the Tour of Great Britain. Karlijn Swinkels secured a podium place and finished third. Riejanne Markus had to settle for fourth place.
