Videoland makes a series about Princess Mabel and Princess Margarita

Princess Mabel

Videoland will broadcast a series about the Dutch princesses Mabel and Margarita. A spokesperson for the streaming service confirms this following a report by media expert Tina Nijkamp. The series is being produced by Millstreet Films, which also makes the series Máxima.

According to Nijkamp, the series is called Mabel & Margarita: Oranjebitter. According to the brief summary Nijkamp shares, the series is about how the princesses and their partners “become entangled in the web of the monarchy and the power play that takes place behind closed doors.”

Mabel was married to Prince Friso, a younger brother of King Willem-Alexander, who died in 2013. Prince Friso relinquished his right to the throne in 2003 to marry her because the cabinet did not grant permission for the marriage. The cabinet refused permission because Mabel allegedly provided insufficient and incorrect information about her previous alleged love affair with drug lord Klaas Bruinsma.

Margarita was with Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn, an entrepreneur with whom she accused the royal family of eavesdropping in 2003.

Production company Millstreet Films is also making the series Máxima for Videoland, the second season of which will be released in 2026.
