Van Baarle leaves after three years at Visma-Lease A Bike: ‘wants new stimulus’

Dylan van Baarle

Dylan van Baarle will leave Visma-Lease a Bike after this season. The 33-year-old from South Holland is looking for a new challenge after three seasons with the Dutch cycling team.

“I have the idea that a new environment can give me a new stimulus,” Van Baarle said in the cycling podcast of the AD. “Of course, you can be wrong about that, but I think it will ensure that I will perform again at the level at which I have performed before.”

Van Baarle has been racing for Visma-Lease a Bike since 2023. In the service of the Dutch cycling team, he won Omloop het Nieuwsland in his first year and became Dutch road champion.

That same year, Van Baarle helped teammate Jonas Vingegaard as a servant to his second Tour de France victory. Partly due to injuries and illness, Van Baarle did not have his best years at Visma after 2023.

In June 2024, Van Baarle missed the Tour due to a broken collarbone. Two months later, he was forced to step down in the Vuelta a EspaƱa due to a fall. The current cycling season also ended in disappointment due to a broken collarbone. He is again not participating in the Tour.

Before his time at Visma, Van Baarle, as a rider of Team Sky, won Paris-Roubaix (2022) and Dwars door Vlaanderen (2021), among others. He hopes to be successful again with a new team. It is not yet known for which team he will ride.
