United is taking the cut again and pays 75 million for Brentford player Mbeumo

Manchester United has made a new top signing on Monday. The fallen powerhouse is paying no less than 75 million euros for the arrival of Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old Mbeumo was one of the standouts in the Premier League last season with 20 goals and 8 assists. The right winger has signed a contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2030. Through bonuses, the transfer fee can rise to 82 million euros.

Brentford has never received so much money for a player. The club brought in Mbeumo in 2019 for just 6.5 million euros from the French club Troyes. At that time, Brentford was still active in the second tier of England.

Manchester United is therefore paying another high transfer fee for the arrival of a Premier League player. Earlier, the club paid no less than 74 million euros for attacker Matheus Cunha of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The cash injection is striking: United has mainly had to cut back recently and has not yet sold a player. ‘The Red Devils’ also had a dramatic season. United finished in fifteenth place in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. As a result, the club is not playing European football either.

At Manchester United, Mbeumo will be a teammate of, among others, Orange internationals Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee and former Ajax players Antony, Noussair Mazraoui and André Onana. It is unclear whether they will all be allowed to stay by the Portuguese coach Rúben Amorim.
