Two officers were stabbed in the leg in Rotterdam on the night of Sunday to Monday. This happened while frisking a man who had exhibited “suspicious behavior.” The 24-year-old from Rotterdam has been arrested and is suspected of attempted manslaughter.
Around 4:30 a.m., officers on Rochussenstraat in the center of Rotterdam wanted to check a man because he was “behaving suspiciously,” police said.
During the search, the man suddenly pulled a knife from his waistband and stabbed the two officers from the Dog Brigade in the leg. Both dog handlers were injured and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
The officers have since left the hospital and are “doing well under the circumstances,” a spokesperson told NU.nl.
The police are still investigating exactly what happened. The suspect is being questioned.
