Trump shocked by flooding, worries and panic for missing girls

The American president Donald Trump is shocked by the severe floods in the state of Texas. Due to the flooding of the Guadalupe, at least 24 people have died. There are major concerns about the fate of 23 missing girls who were at summer camp.

Emergency services are using, among other things, five hundred people and fourteen helicopters to find survivors. According to Major General Thomas Suelzer of the Texas military, at least 237 people have been rescued, 167 of whom by helicopter.

The search for the missing girls has continued throughout the night. “The fact that we haven’t found them doesn’t mean we won’t find them anymore,” says Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick of Texas. It is not clear whether some of the missing girls are among the fatal victims.

The Christian summer camp with about seven hundred children was just outside Kerrville, in the heart of Texas. The water level in that area rose by 8 meters in just 45 minutes due to heavy rainfall. According to CNN, several parents have posted photos of their children online in the hope that they will find out something about where their daughter is now.

According to the authorities, the flash flood came quickly and unexpectedly, surprising many people and leaving them with no time to get to safety. It is not clear whether the residents were warned about the flash flood. Resident Candice Taylor denies this in conversation with CNN. Earlier, authorities said that a disaster of this magnitude is “unpredictable” because there are “constant floods”.

Texas can count on help according to Trump

Trump said he was shocked by the floods and spoke of a “terrible event.” He said that Texas can count on help from the federal government. “Oh yes, definitely, we’re going to take care of that. We are working with the governor.”

The expectation is that it will continue to rain in Texas in the coming period. This could lead to new floods in the next 24 to 48 hours, is the expectation.
