Title holder Alcaraz will come to ABN AMRO Open again next year

Carlos Alcaraz will participate in the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam again next year. The Spanish world number two, who is currently active at Roland Garros, will defend his title in Ahoy.

“My first participation in Rotterdam made me want more. Winning the title was of course an important factor, but the atmosphere was also great,” says Alcaraz about his return. “The warm welcome I received from the fans makes me very keen to come back. I look forward to defending my title.”

The 22-year-old Spaniard was too strong for Australian Alex de Minaur in the final in February. It was his first title at an indoor tournament. This year he has already won four titles.

“Despite his young age, Alcaraz is already a superstar,” says tournament director Richard Krajicek. “He caused so much excitement among the fans this year, both on and off the court, that he was immediately at the top of our wish list. The fact that the connection between the ABN AMRO Open and him is mutual is evident from the fact that he was immediately enthusiastic about returning.”

The participation of the top player resulted in a visitor record during the past edition. Almost 142,000 tennis fans came to Ahoy. The ABN AMRO Open will be held next year from February 9 to 15.

Alcaraz is currently the favorite to extend his title at Roland Garros. He is seeded second in Paris behind Jannik Sinner.
