Venus Williams and actor Andrea Preti are engaged. The American tennis player confirmed this on Tuesday after her won match at the WTA tournament in Washington.
“My fiancé is here, he has never seen me play,” she said on the court after the match. “He has always encouraged me to keep playing.”
Williams made her comeback on the tennis court this week in Washington. She won her first singles match in over a year. Her last major tournament was in March last year. She also returned with a victory in doubles.
The 45-year-old Williams and the 37-year-old Preti, known from the Italian television series A Professor and the film One More Day, kept their relationship out of the spotlight. In February, rumors of an engagement already circulated when people saw Williams with a ring and together with Preti in Rome.
