Sting comes to the Netherlands with a new version Musical The Last Ship

Sting will bring the updated version of The Last Ship to the Netherlands starting in January 2026. The 73-year-old singer announced this on Thursday during a meeting at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam. The world premiere will be shown in that theater.

Sting arrived at the theater by boat. In the hall of Carré, the singer talked about his new musical project. He also sang some songs.

The Last Ship is inspired by Sting’s youth in Wallsend, UK. The musical tells the story of the community that is threatened with extinction when shipbuilding closes. The singer himself will play a leading role in the piece.

The original version of The Last Ship premiered in Chicago in 2014 and was also shown on Broadway that year. In 2013, the singer released an album of the same name, which also includes some songs from the musical.

After the world premiere, the musical will be temporarily exclusively on display in Carré.
