State Secretary Paul on behalf of the Cabinet to Forbidden Pride in Budapest

Outgoing State Secretary Mariëlle Paul (Fundend Education and Emancipation) goes to the Pride in Hungary on behalf of the outgoing cabinet. The House of Representatives had called for the cabinet for this.

The Hungarian Parliament adopted a law in March that prohibits the Pridemars. But the mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, plans to organize it on Saturday 28 June. According to Karácsony, the Pride can continue because the municipality is organizing it.

If the Mars in Budapest is still banned, then Paul will not walk in it. The State Secretary then goes to the activities that are organized around the Pride. For example, she will be present the evening before the march at a reception with Karácsony.

The outgoing minister has more often emerged in Europe for the position of the LGBTQIA+community in Hungary. By traveling to the capital, she wants to “support the participants of the Pride”.
