Suzan & Freek gave their first performance on Friday since the cancer diagnosis of Freek. The emotions sometimes prevailed on the podium of Concert at Sea, but Freek insisted that they also built a party of it.

We are currently going through the most difficult phase of our lives. Suzan & Freek are still in the middle of that process, but felt that they want to be on stage again. Freek says he feels top fit. He plays the audience in the songs that follow full energy.
“In the past month we have learned that there is really only one thing important, that there is one thing that counts and that is in the now. Only today, we are working on that. Only today. That is what counts. We try to let go of the future a little.”
‘Everyone put arm around us’
Before the couple starts to burn light , they thank everyone for the support. “The whole of Belgium and the Netherlands put an arm around us. We can never thank you enough for that.”
If Suzan gets a hard time during light burning, Freek immediately goes to give her a kiss. Tears also flow in the audience.
