The Eurovision Song Contest attracted slightly more viewers worldwide this year than last year. This year, 166 million people watched, compared to 164 million viewers a year earlier. The share of young viewers in particular has increased, reports organizer EBU.

The average market share – the percentage of all television viewers at that moment – of the final was 47.7 percent. That is the largest share since 2004.

In the Netherlands, where more than 3.5 million people watched the final, that market share was 66.1 percent. During the results announcement, that was even 84.3 percent.

The Eurovision Song Contest attracted a striking number of young viewers this year. In the 15 to 24 age category, the market share was 60.4 percent. According to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), this has never been so high before.

Online content from the Eurovision Song Contest was also viewed a lot. All posts, videos and stories on social media together achieved almost two billion views.

This year, the Eurovision Song Contest was broadcast not only in the 37 participating countries, but also in the United States, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Moldova and online. The Austrian singer JJ won the event with the song Wasted Love. Claude participated on behalf of the Netherlands. He finished in twelfth place with C’est La Vie.
