Seventeen injured in stabbing at Station in Hamburg, female (39) arrested

In a stabbing incident in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday evening, seventeen people were injured, at least four of whom are in life-threatening condition. Police have arrested a 39-year-old woman and believe she acted alone.

The stabbing occurred around 6:00 PM at the city’s central station. According to local media, the suspect stabbed several people in front of a waiting train.

Three victims are in critical condition, German police told the news outlet Bild. Three others were seriously injured, and six people were slightly injured. Some of the injured were treated on a train.

Train traffic at the station was temporarily completely shut down. Later, several platforms were reopened. A Red Cross crisis team is also present to support victims and witnesses.

“I heard everyone screaming,” a witness told Hamburger Abendblatt. “Then everyone ran away.” According to another witness, the street next to the station looks like a military hospital.

The suspect is said to have stabbed people at random. So far, there are no indications that the stabbing was politically motivated. According to Bild, the woman is known to the police.
