The American president Donald Trump spoke with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for an hour and fifteen minutes on Wednesday. “Putin has very emphatically stated that he will have to respond to the recent Ukrainian attack on the airfields,” Trump writes.
“It was a good conversation, but not one that will lead to immediate peace,” Trump writes on his platform Truth Social.
The president spoke with Putin about the drone attacks by Ukraine on several Russian airbases on Sunday, “and also other attacks by both sides”. According to Trump, Putin said “emphatically that he will have to respond” to the attacks on the airfields.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Ryabkov, also said that “all options are on the table” when it comes to a response to the recent Ukrainian attacks.
Also agree on Iran not being allowed to produce nuclear weapons
The Russian news agency TASS has also confirmed that the conversation took place, but did not share details about what was discussed.
What Trump did agree on with Putin was that Iran should not be allowed to produce nuclear weapons. “President Putin has indicated that he will participate in the talks with Iran and that he might be helpful in quickly finalizing this conversation,” Trump said.
