PSV Women washed away the hangover of the elimination in the Champions League on Saturday. The Brabant team was 2-0 too strong for Metalist 1925 from Ukraine and thus qualified for the first preliminary round of the European Cup, the second European tournament.
PSV lost 4-0 to Manchester United on Wednesday, so the club from Eindhoven did not qualify for the Champions League. Three days later, the Brabanders recovered.
After seven minutes, it was already hit against Met Metalist for PSV. Nina Nijstad opened the score, after which Sara Thrige doubled the lead before half time.
In the second half, both teams no longer scored, so PSV qualified for the first time for the qualification of the European Cup, the new European tournament of the UEFA. The tournament is fully finished via a knockout system.
PSV does not yet know which club is in the first preliminary round. The draw will take place on 31 August.
