PSV records Guus Til for two years longer: 'This is an important blow for us'

Guus Til has extended his contract with PSV by two years on Wednesday. The midfielder was still under contract until next summer, but will now remain in Eindhoven until mid-2028.

Til’s contract extension had been in the works for some time. It had previously been reported that PSV were keen to extend the contract of the midfielder, who joined from Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2022. With the contract extension, PSV prevents the six-time international from leaving on a free transfer next summer.

“I have already had three successful years here, I think PSV is a very nice club and this extension speaks volumes of praise,” said Til on the PSV website. “My goals are clear. I hope that I can surpass myself every year, want to become champion here every season and also want to go further in the Champions League.”

Til has not always been assured of a starting place since his arrival at PSV, but he can show good statistics. The midfielder has scored no fewer than 36 times in 135 official matches for the Eindhoven club. Til scored ten of them last Eredivisie season.

“This is an important victory for us,” responds director of football affairs Earnest Stewart. “Guus is a player who, with his qualities, fits in very well with the playing style that our head coach Peter Bosz is advocating. Once you have a player like Guus in your selection, you prefer not to let him go.”

In contrast to Til, several players may leave PSV next summer. Malik Tillman is said to have already reached a personal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen, and Napoli has far-reaching interest in Noa Lang, who is open to leaving the Philips Stadium.
