Quilindschy Hartman has said goodbye to Feyenoord on Wednesday after fifteen years. The defender is very likely to leave for a sum of around 12 million euros to Burnley and will thus still be working in the Premier League.
The clubs have not yet confirmed the transfer, but Hartman himself is already reporting his departure via social media. The defender posted a video on Wednesday evening in which he said goodbye to the Feyenoord supporters.
“With pain in my heart, I have to tell you that the time has come to take a new step in my life and career. I hope you understand and grant me the opportunity to pursue my dream,” says Hartman.
Hartman already seemed to be on his way to the English competition in 2024, but then suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury. That cost him not only a transfer and the end of the competition, but he also had to let the European Championship pass him by.
After months of recovery, the 23-year-old Hartman made his return in February this year. After that, his game was not convincing and he was not assured of a starting place. For example, Robin van Persie repeatedly preferred the loaned Hugo Bueno.
Hartman had previously announced that he would not extend his contract with Feyenoord, and as a result, the club could only ask for a transfer fee for him this summer. The full-back still had a contract in De Kuip until mid-2026.
Hartman won league title in 2023
Hartman leaves somewhat through the back door, but was a crowd favorite for a long time during his time in Rotterdam. The defender celebrated his greatest success in 2023 under the leadership of Arne Slot. Then Feyenoord won the league title.
In total, Hartman played 83 games in the Feyenoord shirt. He scored twice in it and was the provider for a goal twelve times.
At Burnley, Hartman becomes the fourth Dutchman. Last season, trainer Scott Parker finished second in the Championship with Zian Flemming, Shurandy Sambo and Jaydon Banel in the selection.
