Next transfer at PSV: Noa Lang continues a career at national champion Napoli

Noa long

Noa Lang has completed his transfer from PSV to Napoli on Thursday. The fourteen-time international from Oranje is the latest player to leave the reigning national champion this summer.

Lang’s transfer had been in the works for some time. He was already absent from the training camp and had reported to Naples on Tuesday for the medical examination.

PSV and Napoli are not making any statements about the transfer fee. According to various media, the 26-year-old Lang will yield around 28 million euros for the Eindhoven team (including bonuses).

The transfer brings an end to a two-year period in which things were rarely dull around Lang at PSV. For example, he had a difficult relationship with the public for some time, but he was also celebrated for putting PSV on course for the title with two goals against Feyenoord.

Lang was also not always fit in his two seasons. Yet he made 63 appearances. In those, he scored nineteen times and provided fourteen assists. Lang won two championships with PSV, one KNVB Cup, and one Johan Cruijff Shield.

Lang: ‘Time for the next step in my career’

Lang felt it was time for a new adventure. “After two seasons with two titles, it’s time for me to take the next step in my career,” he says. “I am grateful to all the people within and around the club who were there for me from day one.”

After Lang’s departure, calm seems to have returned to Eindhoven for a while, where there has been a coming and going of players in the recent period. Among others, Johan Bakayoko and Malik Tillman left PSV. There is still no clarity about the future of Luuk de Jong.

In contrast, Alassane Pléa (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Kiliann Sildillia (SC Freiburg) were among those who arrived. PSV had previously brought in Ruben van Bommel (AZ) as a replacement for Lang.

Napoli became national champions last season after a title battle with Internazionale. Lang will play alongside, among others, Belgians Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Former AZ defender Sam Beukema is also on his way to Napoli.
