Mysteryland will skip an edition in 2026 due to “several factors,” according to a spokesperson for festival organizer ID&T. In 2027, the dance festival in Haarlemmermeer will continue under the same name.
“It involves several factors,” the organization says. Due to rising costs and the wishes of visitors, among other things, ID&T wants to “re-evaluate everything.” The organizer does not yet want to say exactly what will change about the dance festival. “We don’t want to mortgage the future. The decision is already about a few years away. We have decided that it is time for renewal.”
According to ID&T, the decision has nothing to do with the controversy surrounding festival owner KKR. In early May, it was announced that investor KKR had acquired British Superstruct Entertainment, the parent company of various Dutch festivals. The takeover recently received renewed attention because artists expressed their concerns about the American company. According to them, KKR invests in weapons, fossil projects and Israeli companies that are active in the occupied West Bank.
Mysteryland is one of the longest-running annual festivals in the Netherlands. The festival has been organized since 1993. The event has been held at the Floriade site in Haarlemmermeer since 2003. Mysteryland has 100,000 visitors annually. This year, Indira Paganotto, Ronnie Flex, Hardwell and Benwal, among others, will perform.
