Mother Vlaardings Foster girl: Snain care organizations liable

The biological mother of the severely abused foster girl from Vlaardingen has held the William Schrikker Foundation and foster care organization Enver liable. According to her, the assistance provided by the organizations fell seriously short.

The mother claims that the organizations deprived her of the opportunity to continue living as a family. This is confirmed by lawyer Frank Hamers to ANP after reporting by De Telegraaf.

The two organizations were involved in the care of the child, who was allegedly severely abused by her foster parents. According to Hamers, the assistance fell seriously short and the mother was not heard.

“She was not heard,” says Hamers. He hopes that this step will provide “recognition for the mother.” A claim for damages may follow. The lawyer is taking the step on behalf of the biological mother and the half-sister. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the half-sister was also abused in the same foster family.

The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate previously concluded in a highly critical report that the situation of the foster girl from Vlaardingen could arise because the assistance from both organizations fell short for a long time and frequently. The organizations were placed under “intensified supervision.”

Brain Damage and Fractures

Foster father Johnny van den B. and foster mother Daisy W. were arrested after their then ten-year-old foster daughter was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries in May last year. The girl had brain damage and fractures and was temporarily in a coma.

The couple has been charged with mistreating a total of four foster children. At the beginning of this year, Van den B. and W. were admitted to the Pieter Baan Center for six weeks for observation. The report on this is due to be published soon.
