Marrit Steenbergen prolonged her world title in the 100-meter freestyle at the long course swimming World Championships in Singapore on Friday. It is the second gold medal for the 25-year-old Frisian in an individual event at a World Championship.
Steenbergen came to a time of 52.55 in lane 4.
Last year, Steenbergen, who had already qualified for the final with the best time (52.81), was also the best in the 100-meter freestyle at the World Championships in Doha. At the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer of 2024, she finished seventh in the 100-meter freestyle.
Milou van Wijk (20) finished fourth in the final of the 100 freestyle in Singapore.
