A man who wanted to cross the A16 motorway on Saturday evening was hit and died, the police report. The accident happened around 10.15 pm at Zevenbergschen Hoek in Noord-Brabant.
According to the police, traffic could no longer divert and hit the pedestrian. The man immediately died of his injuries.
The police are still in the dark about the man’s motive. A spokesperson tells NU.nl that no left -handed vehicle has been found in the vicinity of the accident. There is, however, a gas station near the collision. The man may have wanted to reach that location.
The police say that the victim comes from abroad, but do not (yet) share information about his identity. According to a spokesperson, there is no reason to assume that it is an attempted suicide.
