A man was seriously injured on Sunday morning after being impaled on a fence in Groningen. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The accident happened around 5:00 AM near the former racetrack in the Stadspark in Groningen, according to reports from Hart van Nederland and 112Groningen. The Zomervolk festival is being held on that site this weekend.
It is still unclear exactly what happened. The man probably wanted to climb over the fence, after which he slipped. One of the pins then pierced his body.
Emergency services responded en masse. The fire department, ambulance and police, among others, arrived at the scene to free the man.
