Man (44) died after frontal collision with a mourning truck in Noord-Brabant

In the Brabantse village of Oosteind, a 44-year-old motorist was seriously injured on Monday evening after a collision with a hearse. The man died shortly after the incident in the hospital. Four other people involved had to go to the hospital for treatment.

The collision occurred around 10:30 PM. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident. The three vehicles were driving on Heistraat when they collided at a traffic island. The hearse and one of the other cars collided head-on, police said.

Shortly after the accident, several ambulances and fire trucks arrived at the scene. A trauma helicopter also had to be used.

The fatal victim was the driver of the car that collided with the hearse. His two passengers were injured to such an extent that they were taken to the hospital. The driver and passenger of the hearse were also treated there. The occupants of the third car were unharmed.

The police confirm that the hearse was transporting a body at the time of the accident. “The flags of the vehicle were visible. That is almost always a sign that it is a hearse on duty transporting a deceased person,” a spokesperson told NU.nl.
