Limburg streets again under water due to a lot of rainfall

In Limburg, several streets were flooded on Saturday evening. Severe thunderstorms were accompanied by a lot of rain in a short time.

Images show that drains can no longer handle the large amount of water and therefore overflow. Streets in the Limburg town of Limbricht are therefore partly under water, as can be seen in the photo above.

Several streets were also flooded in Echt. According to 1Limburg, the number of reports about flooding was not too bad. It is unclear how many reports have been made.

Code yellow was declared in Limburg on Saturday evening due to thunderstorms with heavy rainfall. The KNMI warned that tunnels and cellars could flood. There was a small risk of mudflows in the hills.

The southern province often has a hard time when it rains. At the end of last month, for example, there was also severe weather with large hailstones. Streets were also flooded then, and rubbish bins, among other things, had fallen over. Around this time last year, cellars flooded after heavy rain.
