Leclerc also in the last training Monaco faster than Verstappen, Hamilton crashes

Max Verstappen recorded the second-fastest time in the final free practice session at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday. Charles Leclerc was again faster than the Dutchman. Shortly before the end, Lewis Hamilton crashed in his Ferrari.

Leclerc was already the fastest driver in the field in the two practice sessions on Friday, and he was also dominant on Saturday afternoon. Verstappen had to concede three tenths of a second to the Ferrari driver this time.

This makes home driver Leclerc the big favorite for qualifying, which is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 PM. Qualifying is more important in Monaco than on other circuits because overtaking on the narrow roads in the principality is very difficult. Leclerc also took pole position in his home country last year.

The final free practice session ended a minute earlier than planned due to a crash by Hamilton. The seven-time world champion lost control of the steering wheel in a corner near the casino in Monaco and rammed the boarding with the right side of his car.

The two tires on that side of the car then flew off, which means Ferrari will have to carry out the necessary repair work in the remaining hours before qualifying. Hamilton appeared to have gotten away with it himself.
