Lady Gaga has won a Sports Emmy. The singer received the award for her Super Bowl performance earlier this year. She sang the song Hold my hand before the American football game began.
Lady Gaga receives the Sports Emmy in the category of Outstanding Music Direction. The singer sang the song, the soundtrack to the movie Top Gun: Maverick, as a tribute to the fourteen fatal victims of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans. The Super Bowl took place in that American city this year.
The award brings Lady Gaga one step closer to the famous EGOT status. Artists who have that status have won all major entertainment awards. These include the Emmy TV Award, the Grammy Music Award, the Oscar Film Award and the Tony Theater Award.
Whoopi Goldberg, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John, Viola Davis and John Legend are among the artists who have previously won all four awards.
Only the Tony Theater Award is now missing from Lady Gaga’s trophy cabinet. The singer already has fourteen Grammys to her name. She won an Oscar for the song Shallow from the movie A Star is Born.
