Stuntwoman Devyn LaBella has sued actor and director Kevin Costner. LaBella claims that during the filming of the movie Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, she was forced to film a rape scene that was not in the script.

LaBella was the stunt double of Ella Hunt, who plays the role of Juliette in the film directed by Costner. Her lawsuit concerns an incident in May 2023. LaBella claims that director Costner came up with a scene in which Hunt’s character was raped. Hunt had refused to do the scene, after which LaBella was asked.

LaBella says she was not informed in advance about the content of the extra scene. Costner allegedly ordered a male actor to “pin her down and forcefully pull up her skirt”.

According to LaBella, no intimacy coordinator was present. The stuntwoman states that she feels ashamed and humiliated by the incident. LaBella is demanding compensation. The producers of the film are also mentioned in the lawsuit.

Costner’s lawyer, Marty Singer, denies the allegations on behalf of his client. In a statement to Variety, he states that Costner “always wants to ensure that everyone feels comfortable working on his films”. Singer calls the allegations unfounded and describes LaBella as a “serial litigant”.

Horizon: An American Saga is a western series by Costner. The American directs the films and also plays a role himself. The film series is intended to have four parts.
