Jong Feyenoord is er zaterdag niet in geslaagd naar de Tweede Divisie te promoveren. De ploeg van coach Pascal Bosschaart won de return van het beslissende tweeluik tegen Jong Sparta met 1-3, maar had de heenwedstrijd met 0-3 verloren.
Joey de Bie opende na een klein half uur met een schuiver de score voor Jong Feyenoord, dat op Het Kasteel werd gesteund door tweeduizend supporters. Vroeg in de tweede leverde De Bie ook de voorzet waaruit Fabiano Rust de voorsprong verdubbelde.
Vijf minuten later maakte Ayoub Ouarghi er 0-3 van, waardoor Jong Feyenoord de nederlaag uit de heenwedstrijd volledig had weggepoetst. Maar in de slotfase kopte Dylan van Wageningen uit een corner de 1-3 binnen.
Jong Feyenoord kwam niet meer tot scoren en speelt hierdoor ook komend seizoen in de beloftencompetitie. De ploeg van Bosschaart moet opnieuw algeheel amateurkampioen worden om kans te maken op promotie. Jong Sparta blijft actief in de Tweede Divisie.
In de vorige ronde tegen SC Cambuur (4-1-zege) had Jong Feyenoord nog versterking gekregen van Givairo Read, Anis Hadj Moussa, Antoni Milambo en Oussama Targhalline. In de return tegen Sparta stond doelman Plamen Andreev als enige speler van de hoofdmacht van Feyenoord in de basis.
Feyenoord had tien jaar geleden al de kans om een team in de Eerste Divisie in te schrijven, maar besloot dat destijds om financiële redenen niet te doen. De laatste jaren is het een wens binnen de club om tóch de voetbalpiramide in te gaan.

Joey de Bie opened the scoring for Jong Feyenoord after just under half an hour with a sliding effort, supported by two thousand fans at Het Kasteel. Early in the second half, De Bie also provided the assist from which Fabiano Rust doubled the lead.
Five minutes later, Ayoub Ouarghi made it 0-3, completely erasing Jong Feyenoord’s first-leg defeat. However, in the final phase, Dylan van Wageningen headed in the 1-3 from a corner.
Jong Feyenoord did not score again and will therefore play in the reserve league next season as well. Bosschaart’s team must become overall amateur champions again to have a chance of promotion. Jong Sparta remains active in the Second Division.
In the previous round against SC Cambuur (4-1 victory), Jong Feyenoord had been reinforced by Givairo Read, Anis Hadj Moussa, Antoni Milambo and Oussama Targhalline. In the return leg against Sparta, goalkeeper Plamen Andreev was the only player from Feyenoord’s main squad in the starting lineup.
Feyenoord already had the opportunity to register a team in the First Division ten years ago, but decided not to do so for financial reasons at the time. In recent years, there has been a desire within the club to enter the football pyramid after all.
