Israel gets the body of deceased Thai hostage from Gaza Strip

The Israeli army has recovered the body of a Thai citizen from the Gaza Strip. The body was of Nattapong Pinta, who was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, and later died.

The Israeli army worked with the Shin Bet security service to recover Pinta’s body. That operation took place in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

After the body was identified and turned out to be Pinta, his family and the Thai government were informed.

Pinta was kidnapped alive in Kibbutz Nir Oz by a militant group known as the Mujahideen Brigade. That brigade is separate from Hamas but works closely with them. The army reports that Pinta was “murdered in captivity by terrorists”.

This week, the Israeli army recovered two other hostages from the Gaza Strip. Those were the bodies of an Israeli-American man (72) and his wife (70). They were shot dead in Nir Oz on October 7 and their bodies taken to the Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli army, there is still one body of a foreign citizen in the Gaza Strip. Of the 251 people kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, 55 are still being held. Israel believes that at least 20 of them are still alive.
