The Dutch women’s hockey team had a strong performance in the Pro League on Thursday. Coach Raoul Ehren’s team won against Spain in Amstelveen with double digits: 11-2.
Yibbi Jansen was the top scorer for the Netherlands with five goals. The midfielder scored all her goals from a penalty corner in the Wagener Stadium.
Oranje was already leading 7-2 at halftime. The other Dutch goals were scored by Luna Fokke (twice), Fay van der Elst, Marijn Veen, Frédérique Matla, and Pien Dicke.
It was the Dutch women’s hockey team’s biggest victory over Spain ever. The reigning Olympic champion also played against Spain on Wednesday and then narrowly won 3-2.
Thanks to the tenth victory of this Pro League season, Oranje is even more firmly in the lead. The lead over number two Argentina, who has played two fewer matches, is eleven points.
For the Dutch women’s hockey team, the summer is marked by the European Championship, which will be held from August 9 to 17 in Mönchengladbach, Germany. In the run-up to the European title fight, Oranje will play eight matches in the Pro League.
