In this section we explain what is going on on the editors. These weeks NU.nl people take over the section from the editor -in -chief. With this time: Entertainment reporter Michiel Vos is on Lowlands one week and discusses depression with Fred van Leer the next moment.
When hearing the name Entertainment reporter, my environment sometimes thinks that my work consists of scouring red runners on premieres. Admittedly, every now and then you end up in this work at a party where you are one of the few people who are not allowed to call themselves a Dutch person. But as an entertainment reporter, I actually visit few premieres. And I am sometimes invited, but there is usually a lot of news.
After more than five years at NU.nl I made the switch from editor to reporter earlier this year. That means (briefly summarized) that I am less able to make entertainment news in the office, but more in the wider world. And then you suddenly go to the biggest festivals in the Netherlands for work. “Well, well, hard work,” I was told several times. But really, that’s it.
Last June I carefully made a list of artists that I was not allowed to miss on Pinkpop. And I made some requests to interview some musicians there. But it is quite a puzzle to plan those interviews without missing the artists on stage. Because you also want what they do.
That also required a lot of art and flight work here and there. And then finish beaten after a long day until the small hours.
In August it turned out that Pinkpop was actually a piece of cake compared to Lowlands, which is a lot larger in terms of surface area and number of stages. Because how do you get from your interview with Maan Backstage on one side of the site within ten minutes to the performance of Het Zo! Gospel Choir on the main stage on the other side, through the crowds?
The answer: not. But see all those artists live and call that work, makes the sprints and five hours of sleep between the development of the articles more than worth it.
Entertainment is not always airy
Anyone who sometimes listens the Podcast back -shit will have heard that we can discuss the lightest subjects of NU.nl. But entertainment is more than that. Stories about the restrictions of freedom of the press in the United States also include this. In the coming months we can be found in court to beat sex cases against Marco Borsato and Ali B.
Affairs of sexual cross-border behavior in the media world in recent years, since the Metoo movement and the revelations about The Voice in the Netherlands, have become a part of our work that cannot be ignored. You sometimes also come across personal stories. For example, singer Raye told me through a zoom connection about the song she wrote about sexual violence that a producer had done to her.
Artists, authors and other entertainment figures often put their most personal stories in their work that we tell our reader again. For example, I recently sat in the Euromast opposite Fred van Leer, who said frankly and emotionally about the influence of being manic depressed on his life. It is precisely those stories that weigh as possible as possible is what you do this work for.
In this section, we share what’s happening in the newsroom. This week, nu.nl Staff Members Are Taking over the section from the editor-in-chief. This time: Entertainment Reporter Michiel Vos is at Lowlands One Week and Discuss Depressions with Fred van Leer The Next.

Entertainment is not always Lighthearted
Anyone who listens to the back -shit podcast will have heard that we get to discuss the most lighthearted topics on nu.nl. But entertainment is more than that. Stories about the restrictions on Press Freedom in the United States also Fall Under That. In the Coming Months, We will be in Court to Cover the Sexual Offense Cases Against Marco Borsato and Ali B.
Cases of Sexual Harassment In The Media World Have Become An Undeniable Part of Our Work in recent Years, Since the Metoo Movement and the Revelations About The Voice In The Netherlands. You Sometimes Come Across Personal Stories. For example, singer raye told me via a zoom connection about the song she wrote about sexual assault committed against her by a producer.
Artists, Authors, and Other Entertainment Figures often Put Their Most Personal Stories Into Their Work, which we in Turn Tell to Our Readers. For example, I recently sat in the Euromast oposite Fred van Leer, Who Spoke Candidly and Emotionally about the impact of Being Manic Depressive on HIS Life. Writing Those Stories As Weighted As Possible is what you do this work for.
