Former presenter Khalid Kasem has a new job in the travel world

Khalid Kasem has found work again. The former presenter of the daily talk show Khalid & Sophie is joining Prijsvrij D-reizen Groep. He will be Head of Business Development there, he says on Instagram.

Kasem starts on June 1 “with a lot of energy and enthusiasm” in his new role, he writes. “The travel world offers plenty of opportunities for innovation and growth. And I am very much looking forward to developing inspiring and surprising travel concepts together with the great team.”

Last year, Kasem was embroiled in controversy because he was linked to bribery during his time as a lawyer. The Ad published sound recordings made by the late Peter R. de Vries. Kasem used to have a law firm together with De Vries and his son Royce. In those recordings, Kasem would admit that he had bribed a selection official to get a client released earlier.

Kasem later denied this. The dean of the Amsterdam Bar Association did not find him guilty of bribery. However, Kasem received a formal warning because he had made inappropriate statements to a client.

BNNVARA, the broadcaster for whom Kasem made Khalid & Sophie, temporarily suspended him. In the end, he did not return to work for television. According to Kasem, he no longer has any ambition in that area.

“I’m not at all concerned with a future on television,” Kasem said in March to RTL Boulevard. “I’m just happily busy with the things I like to do. If that’s in public, it will be in public. And if that’s in private, it will be in private.”
