Holly Mae Brood has been named ‘Woman of the Year’ at the tenth edition of the FHM500. Katja Schuurman received a lifetime achievement award during the ceremony in Amsterdam.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday evening in The Harbour Club Theater. For this anniversary edition, the men’s magazine opted for a new format. The traditional ranking has been abandoned to emphasize inspiration and personality, says editor-in-chief Chris Riemens. “We want to give women a platform without mutual comparison.”
The main prize is therefore no longer called the ‘Most Beautiful Woman of the Netherlands’, but ‘Woman of the Year’. Brood is the first to receive this title. “I am very much behind the changes that FHM has made. “I am glad that the numbers are gone,” says the actress, referring to the earlier ranking in which women were numbered based on votes from readers and a jury. “I am very proud and honored to be able to wear this title. “I also find it a bit uncomfortable somewhere, but mostly super cool.”
With her lifetime achievement award, Schuurman follows in the footsteps of previous winners Yolanthe Cabau, Kim Feenstra and Sylvie Meis. “What I actually like most about the fact that I am apparently still seen as an attractive lady is that it makes time stand still a bit,” said the actress and presenter.
To celebrate the award, Schuurman posed nude for the magazine. “Nude photography does not necessarily have to be sexy or erotic. The shoot we have now made is sexy, but not in a seductive way. For me, being naked is mainly about feeling free.”
