Joe Trohman, the guitarist and co-founder of Fall Out Boy, is temporarily stopping playing due to surgery on his right hand. He announced via Instagram that he will not be performing with the band for the rest of the year in order to prevent permanent damage.
Trohman writes that he has had complaints about his hand for years and that an intervention is now necessary. “The bright side is that I will probably make a full recovery,” says the guitarist. In 2023, he also took a break to focus on his mental health.
Fall Out Boy will continue to perform the planned performances. The band, known for hits like Sugar, We’re Goin Down and This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race, will be touring North America and Brazil in the near future. It is not known who will replace Trohman.
