The Wales women’s football team was involved in a traffic accident on Tuesday on their way to training. According to the football association, all occupants are unharmed, but the team is shaken. The training session of the first Orange opponent at the European Championship was canceled.

The Wales team was on its way to the Kybunpark stadium in St. Gallen for the usual training on the day before the match, in this case the crucial European Championship match against France. During that ride, the team bus collided with a car.

According to the Football Association of Wales (FAW), both the players and the occupants of the car were not injured.

Head coach Rhian Wilkinson said the team was shocked. “Football is secondary at such a moment,” she said during the press conference. “According to the first reports, everyone is okay, but we want to keep a close eye on that.”

Wales lost its first group match 3-0 to Orange and needs a good result against the normally much stronger France to keep sight of the knockout phase. On Sunday, the team will conclude the group stage against England, again in St. Gallen.
