Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have filed for divorce in court, TMZ reports. Furness has also spoken out for the first time about the cause of the divorce. She cites adultery as the reason for the split.
“My sympathy goes out to anyone who has experienced betrayal,” Furness told the Daily Mail. She says that faith has helped her process the breakdown of a marriage of almost thirty years.
“We are all on our own journey, and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random,” she continued. “We are attracted to people and we invite them to teach us a lesson. I remain grateful despite everything.”
Furness and Jackman have spent two years at the table working out all the details, including the care of their two adult children: Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19. In principle, the signing of the papers by the judge is just a formality, TMZ states.
The 56-year-old X-Men star and his wife announced in September 2023 that they were separating after 27 years of marriage.
