The election of a new board for the FNV trade union has been postponed for the third time. Temporary supervisors Lodewijk Asscher and Ton Heerts have put the vote on hold.

The election of the general board of FNV was scheduled for September 15. However, according to the supervisors, that is too early. After the summer, Asscher and Heerts will present a new schedule “for a fair and reliable election process.” The election of the chairman has also been postponed.

The supervisors have already consulted with the temporary board of FNV. That board is willing to stay on longer so that the daily work can continue.

The Enterprise Chamber in Amsterdam appointed Asscher and Heerts a month ago to restore calm to the union and organize elections.

The unrest at FNV arose after an allegedly false integrity report about vice-chairman Zakaria Boufangacha. He denies the accusations and is staying at home. The board of the trade union resigned in March.
