The Noord- and Oost-Gelderland safety region sent out an NL-Alert on Friday evening due to a hazardous substance that was released at a company in Borculo.
Dark yellow clouds can be seen above Borculo in images. A spokesperson for the safety region tells the ANP that a chemical reaction with various substances has occurred in a truck.
It is not clear exactly what substances are involved. As far as is known, no one has been injured.
The safety region has scaled up to GRIP 2 due to the size of the company, the possible quantity of the hazardous substance, and the expected area of spread.

That means that Gelderland municipalities have started a consultation to get the incident under control. Various fire trucks and other emergency services are on site, reports the safety region.
An NL-Alert has been sent for the area around Borculo with the urgent advice to close windows and doors and turn off building ventilation. The safety region also calls on people not to come to the location of the incident. The police have now closed off several access roads.
It concerns a company on the Oude Needseweg, presumably the site of FrieslandCampina. The safety region mainly warns about the area between Borculo and Haarlo, which is a kilometer away.
