Cyclist Fabio Jakobsen will make returns next week after long rehabilitation

Fabio Jakobsen will make his comeback next week in the Tour of Denmark. The Dutch cyclist was absent for a long time due to an operation on his pelvic arteries.

The 28-year-old Jakobsen rode his last race on March 23 in Classic Brugge-De Panne. After that performance, he underwent surgery in early April for a narrowing in the pelvic artery in both legs.

This injury is common among cyclists and causes less blood to flow to the leg muscles. Despite a good rehabilitation, Jakobsen was not fit enough to start in the Tour de France.

During the Tour, he was already able to train outside and prepared for his return. Four months after his operation, the Picnic PostNL rider is ready for his return to the peloton.

Comeback mode on,” his team writes on X. “Fabio is looking forward to racing again.” Jakobsen previously said that the narrowing in his pelvic arteries was the reason for his poorer performances in recent years. The rider from Gorinchem won only once in the past year and a half: a stage in the Tour of Turkey.

The Tour of Denmark lasts until August 16.
