Clint Eastwood believes that film industry should be more innovative

Clint Eastwood urges filmmakers to come up with original ideas. The American actor and director believes the film industry relies too much on remakes. “Do something new or stay home,” he says.

The filmmaker longs for the past. “When screenwriters wrote films like Casablanca in small bungalows on the studio lot,” says the 95-year-old Eastwood in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Kurier. “When everyone came up with a new idea.”

According to Eastwood, the secret to his long career lies in his constant drive for innovation. “As an actor and director, I have always tried something new. As long as I can still learn something, I will continue to work – or until I become really senile,” he jokes.

Despite his age, Eastwood is still active as a director. His most recent film, Juror #2, was released last year. He is currently working on the production of a new film.

Eastwood, known for classics such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Dirty Harry, Unforgiven, and Million Dollar Baby, emphasizes that age is no reason to stop. “There is no reason why a man cannot get better with age.”
