Three men fled after crashing a car into a tree near Epse in Gelderland. Two of them crossed all eight lanes of the A1 between the Deventer and Deventer-Oost exits. The police have apprehended the two.
The third man has not yet been found, the police confirm to NU.nl after a report from RTV Oost.
The accident happened around 8:30 AM on Sunday, after which multiple police units started searching for the men. A police helicopter and a sniffer dog were also deployed for this purpose.
The two men who ran across the A1 were arrested after two hours. They were hiding in a wooded area near the highway.
It is not yet clear why the men fled after the accident. The police are investigating and trying to track down the third person.
