More than twenty years after the release of the original film, there is a sequel to Bend It Like Beckham in the making, director Gurinder Chadha confirms to the BBC .
Keira Knightley and parminder Nagra played the lead roles in the original film from 2002.
Chadha hopes that the entire cast will return for the sequel. “Everything depends on whether the original cast thinks the script is good. I do my utmost to ensure that every character I return has a solid storyline and solid scenes.”
In Bend It Like Beckham, Nagra plays the role of Jasminder, a teenager who is completely away from David Beckham, who played for Manchester United and the English team at the time. Jasminder is determined to play against the will of her parents. Knightley plays her girlfriend Jules.
The follow -up film is expected to be released in 2027, in honor of the 25th birthday of Bend It Like Beckham .
